Hi, my name is Simon Pressley, based in Broadstairs, Kent, very close to the towns of Ramsgate and Margate. I have been teaching guitar and bass for many years now, helping hundreds of students to develop their skills as a musician.

I offer guitar lessons for all abilities, from complete beginners to more practiced guitarists who wish to move up to the next level.
Extend your knowledge of musical theory. Using plenty of practical examples, we will progress slowly, to help you improve your musical abilities.
Wish to be part of a band or to improve your playing skills within a band environment? My extensive experience of being part of a gigging professional band gives me all the skills to pass on to you.
I have developed a bespoke tutoring programme to build new guitar playing skills in each lesson. If you prefer a transferable qualification, I offer 1 to 1 tuition in the internationally recognised Rockschool programme (Grades 1 - 8)
Located centrally in Thanet, East Kent, close to Westwood Cross, lessons are held at my home studio, with plenty of on-street parking.
How I help
- Structured and tailored lessons for all abilities
- A DVD of your lesson, so you may study all we've gone through
- Experienced teaching for young and old alike
- Tutoring on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar or classical guitar
- Rockschool grade tuition for those wishing to follow this programme
My guarantee
- To improve your fundamental guitar skills, such as dexterity, timing and harmony
- To teach whole songs as soon as possible so you can enjoy and be inspired by your own efforts.
- To be patient. You will have your own pace of learning but I will teach you how to learn at your fastest pace by using special techniques that I have developed during my career as a tutor.
- “To leave no stone unturned” so you are able to understand your instrument and music as a whole, which in turn, helps to build your confidence as a guitarist.
A student's viewpoint: Paul from Thanet
I've played the guitar on and off for 40 years but haven't felt I've ever made much progress. I needed help to get myself playing with confidence and in the nine months I've been having lessons with Simon, my playing has improved immeasurably, well beyond anything I was able to achieve on my own.
Simon pushes my abilities with each lesson, so I am always moving forwards. We learn new songs but in a planned way, so new techniques are introduced and practiced, making each thing we try feel achievable. My confidence has increased and I have even played for other people, something I'd never have dreamt of doing before.
Simon supplies a DVD of each lesson; an invaluable learning tool as it enables me to play back the full lesson each week, picking up points I would otherwise have missed.
I always look forward to my guitar lesson. Simon is a lovely guy as well as a brilliant guitar player. My only regret is not starting lessons with him years ago.
Guitar used: Squier Stratocaster
Favourite guitarist: Joe Bonamassa
